Andrea:
I believe that I am a role model for Girls With Wings because I am a typical girl trying to
achieve a dream that I deeply have passion for. I believe this program will help me to
accomplish these goals. My number one long-term goal is to become an astronaut in the
future. To get there I want to first perfect being a pilot. I have had a great experience being
amongst skillful pilots and co-piloting for about 3 years now. I would like to earn my private
pilot’s license and I believe that this program could bring me a step closer to that short-term
goal.
The people that have motivated and inspired me to accomplish my dream are: Ms. Debbie
Huffman, Mae Jamison, and of course my mother. Without these three people I don’t believe
that I would have the strength or courage to become a female pilot. I began to want to
become an astronaut when I watched the Discovery land from one of its missions. I realized
for me to become an astronaut, I would have to work from the basics and learn how to fly. The
first time I flew in a two-engine airplane (Cessna), I knew this is what I wanted to do. I have
been to many academies and camps in different states to enhance my knowledge on planes. I
would love to be chosen for the GWW Flight Training Scholarship because I know that this
would be a wonderful chance for me to be even closer to my dream.
