Airline Pilot and Flight Attendant
Hi, My name is Ana. I started in aviation in Mexico as a customer service
agent for a Mexican airline Aero California. Then I was hired by United
Airlines where I worked as a Flight Attendant for 10 years. During this time,
I got married and had 2 children: Jose now 14 and Josana, 8.
I also obtained a bachelors degree in business administration, and finished
my ratings at American Flyers in San Diego. I worked as a CFI (Certified
Flight Instructor) for 2 years, and after that I flew the Grand Canyon tours
for Air Vegas airlines flying BE-99 as a first officer. I got hired with Mesa
Airlines in the Dash-8 based in PHX (Phoenix), and I am now a Captain in
the Dash-8.
Because I am a single mom and my daughter Josana is mentally disabled,
staying in this career has been a little difficult --but not impossible. I
wouldn't trade it for anything else! I have a wonderful nanny that lives with
me and takes care of my kids, and she is specially trained for my daughters
needs.
