Aerobatic Pilot
Hi, my name is Tracey. I am a 25 year old graduate from Embry Riddle
Aeronautical University. The ratings and licenses I hold are private,
instrument, commercial, multi -engine instrument/commercial. About 2
months ago I became SIC rated on the Lear35, now I right seat for clients in
the sim.
I always knew I was going to be a pilot when I got older. My dad works for
American Airlines so we were always traveling. One day as a kid I looked at a
plane we were boarding and said “I’m going to fly this one day”. In
elementary for Halloween all the young girls were going as princesses and
cute witches. I always went as a pilot! My mom would make epaulets for me
and my dad would write out the fake boarding pass. Finally in 2003 I started
taking flying lessons in Dallas TX.
Right now I mainly fly with my friends in the Cessna and clients in the Lear to
build my hours of achieving my goal to be a corporate pilot. I did have a lot of
negativity along the way. People saying oh they would never fly with me
because I am a female, so I should be a flight attendant instead. It did get
me down, but odd as it sounds negativity is what got me through college and
achieving all my ratings. Every little bit of negative I turned it into fuel, just
like an airplane, the more fuel you have the further you will go.
I currently work for American Eagle (airlines…not the clothing company!) in
the office. On my days off I intern for a business jet company. I fly gliders
with my friend, love helicopters also! My favorite thing to do is take the
planes with a few friends and fly out to restaurants and have a meal! I just
created a new fan page on Facebook called Lunch Landings, check it out!
I attended the 2009 Air venture at Oshkosh with my dad for the first time
and absolutely loved it! I met so many GREAT people. They all made me feel
welcome and were also impressed with my achievements.
