Pilot and Author
Hi, My name is Bettina Jenkins Bathe and I live in Calgary, Alberta Canada. I
have been flying since 1988 and love every moment of it. My favourite plane
to fly is the trusty old DC-3 which I flew while living in Miami, Florida. I have
two children who have flown with me several times and love going flying with
mommy as we try to touch the sky. This lead me to start writing aviation
books called Violet the Pilot.
I wanted to be a pilot ever since my girlfriends Dad came into my
Kindergarten class and put his Captains hat on my head. I ran home that
afternoon to announce to my family that I too will fly the friendly skies. I than
found out that my Uncle was a Pilot in the war and that my mom took flying
lessons...how cool! I always knew I could spread my wings and obtain my
flight licence. Along the way it was other female pilots encouraging me and
guiding me in the right direction.

different aircraft to so many places like Canada, Hawaii, France, Arctic. Future
books will be in Australia, Africa, Asia and South America. Looking forward to

The funniest story I have to share is when flying over Lake Huron at 10,000
feet the co-pilots door flew open..wow, what do we do now in the middle of
the night while flying over water? Luckily, we were able to close it and the
next day examined what happened. A Maintenance person was telling us
how lucky we were for their was actually a slight fuel leak and by the door
venting new air we were able to continue on our way. A lesson that I learned
is always be prepared for every situation. Talk with others about your goals
and dreams and only hang around those that ask and encourage, and foster
your journey to an aviation career daily. Feel free to write me at
