We are thrilled to launch our Second Training Session and GWW Club in
New York - and YOU are invited! Become a GWW representative and have
an EFFECT on girls in your community.
As you know, the Girls With Wings mission is to use women in aviation to
inspire girls to achieve their full potential. The GWW organization is growing
by leaps and bounds and is far exceeding our current capabilities. We need
women aviation enthusiasts (either professionals or hobbyists) who would
be interested in learning the GWW branded presentation and making
themselves available for future outreach opportunities in their area. All this
with no cost to you. Pre-registration is required.
The training session will be the weekend of August 22nd and 23rd at the
Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome (north of New York City directions). The seminar
will begin on Saturday evening (after the airshow). We have hotel rooms for
the presenters so that they can stay overnight and in the morning present
to girls attending Sunday's airshow. This is going to be a fun filled weekend,
and we are really looking forward to it!
The specific schedule will be mailed to those that pre-register. If you have
received the package and wish to confirm your attendance, please sign-up.
As previously mentioned, this will also be used to form the NY GWW
chapter, so participants will be filled in on the composition of this club. The
highlighted goals are:
- Demonstrate to girls their limitless opportunities for personal growth
by providing positive role models in the fields of aviation,
- Utilize women in aviation as role models to inspire girls to achieve their
full potential,
- Hold events to promote more young girls’ interest in aviation,
- Encourage STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)
education through their presentations to community groups,
- Mentor interested and beginning student pilots,
- Mentor girls to encourage a “can-do” philosophy
We need a highly motivated individual to agree to be the leader of this
group (really, we've made it quite easy - we know you're busy!) to step
forward. If this sounds like something you would like to participate in, as a
leader or a trainee, please contact me, Lynda Meeks, at 216.577.6131, or
via email at Lynda@GirlsWithWings.com. If you cannot attend this event,
but may be interested in a future one, we have events planned for
Cleveland, OH, and the Washington, D.C. area over the next six months.
Please forward this information on to anyone you think might like to
participate (adult volunteers as well as girls to listen to the presentation) as
well. Additionally, we need sponsors to help cover the costs of this training.
Please forward any contacts you might have to us so that we can request
financial and/or material support. For example, we need a large number
(approximately 60) of these posters.

The presentation Lynda
Meeks gave to my high
school students was
fabulous! Her message of
perseverance,
determination, and rising to
life’s challenges was timely,
especially in this tough
economy. Following the
presentation and Q & A,
many of my students
stayed afterwards to ask
follow-up questions about
careers, travel, and living
one’s dream. Thank you for
delivering such an
inspirational message!
